MMA gloves can be used for the heavy bag?

I just recently bought a pair of Century MMA gloves, the fingers open and the thumb. They feel very stable and cushioned. And I think as far as padding and wrist protection I could go to use the heavy bags. But one friend told me that if you use them, get rubbed off the skin of the fingers, does not matter Punch, or if I'm not. I do not really see how it can be. Is this true? Or will it works well to use the heavy bag and pillow …?

I use them with my heavy bag occasionally. The skin on my fingers do not get rubbed off, and I use the coarse Canvas Bag. Bare hands, wrists so your skin is a rip-off, but even if you only use the packs should be ok.
