Question concerning sock color and army uniform?
As a civilian I have worn combat boots for nearly eight years. To go with the combat boots I have also purchased and worn Thorlo Combat Boot Socks, black in color. I have several pairs that are still in their package. Recently, I have considered joining the Army, if I join the army and I have wondered if I can wear the black Thoro Combat Boot socks with my uniform or do they need to be olive drab or other color.
as far as in basic training you are going to have to wear whichever socks they give you to go with your boots but let me tell you this much they are a lot nicer than when i went through, when i went through they gave us these ugly uncomfortable black wool socks and now they are issuing the od green ones to all of the new soldiers, so at least until you get out of basic and ait you will have to suck it up and wear the green ones but once you get to your unit you can wear the ones you have.. the whole reason they make you do that is because they want everybody to be the same.. i wouldnt worry about the socks they give you because they are comfortable. just keep the other ones for when you are done training
