Elasticated Knee
Knee pain in the back of my knee?
I am awaiting an op on my left knee. Its the usual wear and tear/age thing and I am told that this op may help to reduce the amount of swelling and pain that I get. What I dont understand is this: When I wake up it is agony true agony and after a little while this calms down and with the added aid of an elasticated Knee Support I can trot on through the day – almost normally. Come the evening and I sit down after around an hour I can hardly get up stairs. Similarly in the night it is so so painful and strangely the pain is in the back of the knee and down my calf. I have had an x ray but not a scan. Do you think I sould have a scan before this op and why so painful at the back of the knee when its the front that is the prob.
you could also have a posterior miniscus problem,, found in the back of the knee cap area.. when it is imflamed it hurts like hell…an MRI find this out…you cant get up due to the lack of mucles on the outsides of your knee and a poor quad muscle,,, im surprised you were not told to excercise your muscles to strenghthen the knee…Your muscles around the knee area are what holds you leg up and keeps your knee straight and inline…i have done this for yrs now and have staved off an operation for the past 6 yrs..
